Delivering Reliable Power Across Gujarat with 99.47% Infrastructure Availability
Gujarat stands at the forefront of India’s renewable energy transformation—not only because of its abundant solar and wind resources, but also due to its strategic investments in transmission infrastructure.
🔌 Expanding the Substation Network
The Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation (GETCO) has significantly scaled up the state’s power transmission capabilities. The current network includes:
• 2,318 substations
• 7,485 transformers
• Over 74,000 circuit kilometers of transmission lines
With an impressive 99.47% availability rate, this infrastructure ensures reliable power delivery across Gujarat.
Looking ahead, GETCO has committed ₹1 lakh crore by 2030 to further strengthen the grid. The roadmap includes 1,000 new substations—850 at 66kV and 150 at higher voltages (220kV, 400kV, and 765kV)—to support growing energy demand and renewable energy integration.
🌞 Leading in Renewable Energy Capacity
Gujarat has achieved an installed renewable energy capacity of 29.52 GW, making it one of India’s top-performing states. With 14.7 GW of solar power, the state leads the nation and aims to add 31.9 GW more through solar-wind hybrid projects.
🏗️ Pioneering Projects and Collaborations
• PM-KUSUM Component C (Decentralized Solar): Gujarat is deploying solar plants near agriculture feeders to power rural irrigation. This is transforming villages with daytime reliable power while reducing subsidy burdens on DISCOMs. Several MWs have already been commissioned with strong local participation.
• DREBP (Distributed Renewable Energy-Based Projects): Focused on under-electrified and remote areas, DREBP supports mini-grids, solar pumps, and cold storage systems. It complements PM-KUSUM by enhancing rural livelihoods, especially in tribal and salt pan regions.
• PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana: Targeting 1 crore rooftop solar installations, this national initiative is gaining rapid traction in Gujarat. With a robust rooftop policy and a streamlined subsidy mechanism, adoption is accelerating in cities like Ahmedabad, Rajkot, and Surat.

From design to commissioning, EPC solutions deliver end-to-end power project management. Explore how turnkey EPC services reduce risks, optimize costs, and accelerate project timelines in the energy sector.
